Ann Whitall House Herb Garden
The Ann Whitall Herb Gardeners maintain the kitchen/herb garden in honor of Ann Cooper Whitall who was a prominent Quaker in early America. The Herb Garden is prepared each year during the annual Spring clean up. Beds are weeded, pruned, cleaned out of debris and mulched as needed.
Continued maintenance at the garden continues on a weekly basis with each member committing to take one week from May through October to deadhead, weed, stake, and water, if needed. A final garden clean up occurs in October to put the garden to bed for the winter. Master Gardener Joyce Connelly is the Garden Chair and coordinates clean-ups and planting parties. In addition, Master Gardeners exhibit at the annual Ann Whitall Herb and Flower Show which is attended by hundreds of local residents on the third Sunday in June.
